The outer of the Mountain Equipment Fitzroy jacket can deal with rain, wind and snow whilst the Primaloft insulation will keep the cold at bay. Because the Fitzroy uses synthetic insulation it is better suited to seriously wet conditions that would not suit down insulation.
Because the Primaloft insulation remains effective even when damp, the Mountain Equipment Fitzroy is ideal as a jacket to put on over a hard shell when you stop to protect you from the inevitable reduction in body heat when you are stationary. The Fitzroy can handle this even if the outer surface of your shell is wet. It is ideal for use by climbers as a belay jacket.
