Montane Featherlite Smock

The Montane Featherlite Smock has been a staple Montane product for many years. During it's life it has gone through a numbers tweaks making small but significant improvements to the design. Many brands now carry a windproof shirt similar to this is their range but this one that remains the class leader.

In our opinion this is just about the most useful garment that you can own. Whilst you will almost certainly own a traditional waterproof hard shell jacket they are not the nicest garments to wear. Ideally you would own put one on when the rain is heavy and torrential. A windproof smock like the Montane Featherlite enables you wear just a base layer or base layer plus fleece and have your smock in your pack just in case conditions deteriorate. At the first sign of a cooling wind or mild rain the smock can quickly be put on top and you are now comfortable in the conditions without the bulk and restriction of a hard shell.

Most of the time it is the windproof quality that you will be most grateful for as this enables you to stay warm with minimal additional clothing. But if it does rain you will be suprised how much the Montane Featherlite Smock can handle.

The Montane Featherlite Smock is an essential item for a hiker but it also works equally well for runners. You could even consider carrying one with you as a protective garment during your normal day to day activities. (My wife keeps one hanging in it's bag from her handbag!)
